Iowa-based school librarian Shannon Miller was the keynote speaker for the 2013 Alaska Library Association Conference. She focused on how her district and others are using social media to engage students and teachers. This links to the Google Site she created just for our conference.

She had many interesting ideas, although many of us envied her seemingly permissive IT environment. Her presentation featured a number of tools that my library and some of the school libraries in Alaska are locked out of.

That shouldn’t stop you from exploring how she and her fellow school librarians are building engagement.
