Happy Coast Guard Day!

A 44’ Motor Lifeboat, formerly the workhorse of the Coast Guard’s boat fleet, shows its mettle in ”SHIPS OF THE COAST GUARD” from the series: Moving Images Relating to Coast Guard Activities, 1967 – 1992

The precursor to the Coast Guard, the United States Revenue Cutter Service, was established under the Department of Treasury by  Alexander Hamilton on August 4, 1790.

Happy Birthday indeed! We Alaskans owe many things to the US Coast Guard. Thanks and Happy Birthday!
