Amazing Social Media Primer – Download Today!

At the recently closed 2013 Alaska Historical Society/Museums Alaska conference, Theresa Bakker and Angela Linn of the University of Alaska Museum of the North gave a presentation titled Technology & Social Media 2.0. They generously posted their ANNOTATED slides online through a public Dropbox folder. If you’re thinking about about having social media for your library or you’d like to tune up your current presence, you ought to download this presentation now.

They cover Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr in detail, including the exact image requirements needed for page images and links to articles on how to do the medium well. There is also a list of pros and cons for each channel. They also cover YouTube in less detail and conclude with some free productivity tools.

Flagging @michael and @kyle on this blog post because this might have real value for the social media guidelines assignment.

Amazing presentations like these at museum conferences is one reason I try to monitor museum and archives activities in addition to libraries.
